Product Details
If you have ever wondered what it feels like to knit with pure cashmere, Cardiff Classic is a very good place to start. This is 100% cashmere in a DK / sport weight, and it has a softness that is genuinely hard to put into words. It is one of those yarns that makes you slow down and enjoy every stitch.
Cardiff Classic is made from the fleece of Hircus Goats, selected to strict standards: no fibres longer than 15.5 microns and no more than 38mm in length. That level of care in selection is what makes the finished yarn so soft in the hand and so resistant to pilling over time. All the processing happens at the mill in Biella, in the heart of Italy's most celebrated textile region, where traditional craft and modern technique are combined. It is a yarn built to last and to be enjoyed for years to come.
Classic works across a wide range of projects, from simple accessories and hats through to more involved sweaters and cardigans, and it gives lovely stitch definition throughout. It comes in a beautiful range of colours, with new palettes arriving each season.

About Cardiff Cashmere
Cardiff Cashmere is an Italian yarn brand with cashmere running right through its DNA. Founded in the 1980s by a family of entrepreneurs from Biella, the brand has spent over four decades doing one thing: making exceptional cashmere yarn. It is worth knowing that despite the name, Cardiff has nothing to do with Cardiff in Wales. The name comes from the way the yarn is produced, a nod to a particular technique in the processing of the fibre. The brand is Italian through and through, and every skein is made in the Biella textile district, the heartland of Italian textile craft.
What sets Cardiff apart is the quality of the raw material and the rigour of the selection process. Their cashmere comes from Hircus Goats and is sorted fibre by fibre to meet strict standards of fineness and length. That attention to detail is what gives the finished yarn its exceptional softness and longevity. The colour palettes are updated each season and are beautifully considered, ranging from classic neutrals to more unexpected tones that sit well with both modern and timeless knitting styles.
At Knit With Me we stock Cardiff Classic and Cardiff Prime. Both are worth knitting with at least once.
