Knit With Me

Estonian Roosimine In Person with Aleks Byrd @ Knit With Me, Richmond - Saturday 18th May 2024 11am to 2pm

£75.00

Roosimine is an Estonian inlay technique that creates the appearance of embroidery through intentional floats in contrasting yarn on the right side of your knitting. It’s the perfect technique to add some embellishment to your knitting that is easier than intarsia. The name Roosimine translates to “decorating with roses”, which comes from a style of short stitch embroidery done on the Estonian island of Muhu. You will learn this technique whilst knitting a small swatch in the round and your guide through tis workshop os the Queen of this technique, Aleks Byrd. Have a look at her gorgeous Seli Sweater in the photos to get an idea of how this technique can look in a pullover.

SKILL LEVEL: advanced beginner /intermediate knitter; students should be comfortable to knit and purl in the round, cast-on, bind -off

HOMEWORK: You will receive some instructions to cast-on your swatch ready to continue knitting in the workshop
